MAIN EXHIBITION - THE PROGRESS TRAP, 21 May - 9 June
DEAF2014’s thematic exhibition The Progress Trap showcases artistic responses to the lure of technological innovation, how it feels to be trapped by this relentless pursuit of progress, and how hard it is to escape it.
Art is the tool for critical reflection on the shallow gloss of our current techno-centric notion of progress. The artworks in The Progress Trap speak to multiple levels of the trap: the belief that technology is our savior, as well as our alienation from its production, half-hearted rebellions against the trap, and desires to escape it.
